Two athletes from Morpeth Harriers represented Northumberland at the annual English Schools Track and Field Championships, held in Birmingham on 11 and 12 July.
Under 17 Girl Alexandria Hodgson competed in the Intermediate Girls Hammer competition, where she finished fifth, producing a best throw of 47.85m, which unfortunately was a little adrift of her usual best, however Alex was delighted to be involved in what was her second chance at these championships.
Despite running a personal best time of 40.87s, Under 15 Girl Sophie Pledger lost out for a place in the final of the Junior Girls 300m, as she could only place fourth in her heat, where only the first two gained qualification, only a mere fraction faster would have seen her through, such was the toughness of competition.
