After a very anxious wait, Morpeth Harriers Under 16 Boy Mason Gaylor, has eventually learnt that he has been selected to run for Northumberland in the Junior Boys 800m at the annual English Schools Track and Field Championships, scheduled to be held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on Friday and Saturday 10th and 11th July.
Although Gaylor had not run his best times for the distance in either the County, or Inter Counties Championships, his personal best time of 2m02.65s, achieved at the NEGP 2 meeting in May brought grounds for serious consideration, so he can now look forward to competing amongst the best in England in a few weeks.
Joining him on the Northumberland Team Bus will be Morpeth Harriers Senior Girl Hammer Thrower Alexandria Hodgson, who has been a little unwell of late, and has been forced to take a competitive back seat in the present run up.
She had already thrown the Championship Standard, so was rightly selected to take part.
Hopefully she recovers in time.
