The North Eastern Counties selectors have now finalised their selections for teams
to represent the area at the forthcoming CAU Inter Counties Championships, scheduled to be held at Cofton Park, Birmingham, on Saturday 12th March 2016. Several Morpeth Harriers figure amongst those selections following excellent performances at the regional championships in December, plus some of those who also competed at the Northern Championships at Blackburn at the end of January. The regions Senior Men, who won the Inter Counties team title for a record fifth consecutive time in 2015, have no less than five from the club in their line-up. They are Carl Avery, Peter Newton, Jonny Taylor, Lewis Timmins, and Ross Floyd. Morpeth’s Emma Holt and Josie Cram are included in a very strong North East Senior Women’s line-up, that includes European Silver medallist Kate Avery of Shildon, and Durham City’s Rosie Smith, winner of the North Eastern, and third in the Northern Championships. Joe Armstrong and Nathan Cox are included in the Junior Men’s squad. Alison Brown and Charlotte Jewell run in the Junior Women’s event. Newly crowned Northern Champion Scott Beattie and his Morpeth club-mate Kieran Hedley line-up in the Under 17 Men’s squad Four Morpeth Harriers have won selection to the Under 15 Boys squad, with Daniel Dixon, Taylor Glover, Rory Leonard and Ross Charlton all included in the line-up. Ben Walker lines up in the Under 13 Boys squad. Two Morpeth Harriers are included in the Under 13 Girls squad, with both North East Champion Holly Peck, and Lily Heaton down to toe the start line.
